Who We Are

The Company

The company officially started mid 2008 with just April Thewlis, director and founder of the company. Whilst working in a clinic April experienced a baby boom, and worked with many pregnant clients experiencing first hand the difference that massage can make to pregnant women. However she continuously found that reaching the end of their pregnancy these women were saying that even though they felt a huge difference receiving massage, they didn’t see how they could possible continue once the baby was born. Understanding that the need for massage would continue during the recovering period after labor and then through breastfeeding and the long hours of holding the baby, April decided to visit a few of her regulars in their home.

Following eager acceptances of the offer, April began seeing postnatal clients in their home.  She saw the joy but also how trying it was, how uncomfortable, sore and tired they were and how much the massage made a difference. She also saw the gratitude the clients had for making this option available and how much of a luxury it felt for them, to be seen at home. After seeing all this April realised that this must be the same for every woman who has a baby, being stuck at home and unable to plan ahead due to feeding and sleeps, but in really need of attention.

And so Mumma Massage was born. Since then it has continue to grow and more and more women are taking up our sevices with great enthusiasm.
